Meet Nichelle Frederic

NICHELLE FREDERIC is a Black Deaf wife and mom of two from Orange, New Jersey. She was raised Oral Deaf, only learning ASL in 2018 after struggling to communicate over the phone. Now with love and dedication to representing part of the Deaf Community, Nichelle joins the Listen to Your Mother 2025 cast as the first Deaf storyteller!

Previously, Nichelle was a dancer on the dance ensemble of Orange Middle School (now Orange Preparatory Academy) and went as far to audition for McDonald’s Gospelfest in 2008. She’s also been featured in various news publications in NJ including NJOnAir- a live news platform, NJ.Com and Patch.com for her work as an Administrative Assistant for a Deaf and Hard of Hearing employment support agency. Nichelle enjoys spending time outdoors, with or without her children, making new friends, and binge watching tv shows, especially Gilmore Girls- a show about Motherhood.
